I brought this up with the pediatrician as I had some suspicion this was causing it but he said if she is not having academic or behavioral issues in school they would not medicate her anyways so either way I should just solve the accidents issue separately.

Inattentive adhd can indicate weak core/pelvic floor, it can be a sign of retained reflexes, and also food intolerances can cause spaciness and lack of sensory awareness. Connecting the dots can help you narrow down potential causes.

I would go to a specialist. If the adhd is causing accidents, that sounds like reason enough to medicate. Speaking as someone who struggled with undiagnosed adhd for most of my life, it's terrible to struggle with something and not get treatment or help just because you're not causing other people problems. I had excellent behavior and got straight A's except when I missed assignments because I didn't know about them or couldn't keep track of them. I also had accidents at school all the time until I was almost 7 because of it. Eventually I couldn't keep up in school when I was older and felt like a failure. Why does only the squeaky wheel need get the oil?
If you suspect she has adhd, please get her some kind of help even if medication isn't the right option.

Just want to add that my son, also around this age, has undiagnosed inattentive adhd and also struggling with this. It has recently occurred to me that it might be connected. I’m looking into integrative treatment before going the medical route.

I would get her evaluated for adhd (inattentive) and by an OT (for body awareness).
It could be she’s able to cope in most areas of her life but if spacey it could be the adhd and medication should solve the issue. Also an OT can help if she’s lacking body awareness. Good luck. It sounds so difficult!

Strep and constant antibiotics caused this for us. It’s frustrating.

I don't want to scare you, just a thought I had. Could her being spacey actually be her having absence seizures?

You should have an eeg done to make sure that shes not having absence seizures. When someone has them it looks like they are spacing out but if you tap them, or snap your fingers in front of them they wont react. Kids sometimes have accidents while having absence seizures. They are common and easily treatable. My childs are controlled bH

Also, do you have a mold problem or have had flooding or leaking in your home? Have you tested her for strep? (In the bloodwork)

My son trained at age 9 after I read the book It’s No Accident by Steven Hodges. It’s a bit of an extreme book and not for everyone but it worked miraculously for us.

That's what I was thinking, although I hope not. I assume the doctor would have already picked up on it somehow, like red flags in other areas.

It ended up not being our issue but it’s a reasonably easy test, so you should definitely get it done.

My son has adhd and also had a very difficult time with this. We went to a urologist, and while the urologist tried treating it, I didn’t see any improvement at all. I’m quite certain it’s the ADHD. It basically resolved at around 8 years old (with some accidents, but way less - not regular). Yes, he’s on adhd medication.

After seeing every therapist and pediatric gastroenterologist out there, we were told that if all else fails (Colon cleanses, suppositories, fiber aids and therapy) puberty will stop the accidents. And it did! It’s hard to wait but it will happen.

We don’t have info if this is bowel or bladder accidents
But I have an autoimmune condition which makes me sensitive to UTIs, but when I test for them my numbers come out normal.
How are her blood count numbers?

My 8 y/o was doing this till about a year ago and the situation sounds somewhat similar. We did 2 things that helped, one was some type of alternative medication that someone recommended, if you message me I can explain in detail. I also started taking him to a physical therapist who combines conventional PT with Feldenkrais and some cranio. She explained me that it wasn't behavioral but rather a lack of sensation... he wasn't feeling the need to go or the wetness after the accident. Bh it's been almost a year and he's 95% of the time perfect after years of non stop wetting.
Feel free to message me privately.
Sending hugs, I know how hard it is and how draining it feels to have tried everything and not get to the root of it.
