I can't be the only one shaken up to the core. Satmar Boro park and Mrs. Margolis is synonymous.

She has worked in Satmar bp for over 50 years. She taught first grade when the school was on 14 avenue and 42 street. Later she continued first grade on 9th ave building. School then moved where they're now and she taught 7th grade. Later she became English secretary. For the last 30 years she was the elementary school English principal.

She is probably the single person who's been with the school since it opened basically

Wow. I didn't even know all this. I was in first or 2nd grade when she was Mrs. Yanofskys assistant.

If I know correctly, Mrs. Yanofsky wasn't in satmar for too long.

I told dh he doesn't chap what this means. She and satmar were iconic, symbolic, like saying Aron Veltz and satmar. The most powerful woman on earth. Like SHE will never die.

Very much so. Larger than life person.
Possibly because most of us knew her from 6 years old.
May her nashama have an aliyah.

Another satmar student here

Exactly so. Everybody's reaction is WHAAAATTT!? Somehow Mrs. Margolis just can't die. She's one of those who we really thought would live forever.

She was young and healthy and this was sudden. She’s also very popular. Very normal for it to be shocking. Not that we thought she’ll never die but it’s unexpected when someone is young and vibrant.

Yes, she was a secretary after she taught, then she was assistant to Mrs. Yanofsky who was there 7 to 8 years probably and then she became principal. I don't know how many years, maybe 30?

She has definitely been there the longest of anyone I can think of. She worked there before Mr Weltz. Anyone remember Reb Abba Hirsh, Reb Feuerworker?

Definitely the end of an era.

I spoke to her last at the 8th grade graduation a few weeks ago. She was all shtofirt out like a shuna rishoina veibel, she looked skinny, gorgeous and so happy. It's such a shock!

May she be a malitz yosher to her family and the whole satmar community

Bd”e

Dh did service work for her at home. He says she was the nicest lady. (I had heard this many times about her from my husband)
He had done some work for her before she remarried and she recently called he should please come by to pick up the payment already since she never liked owing money.

So so sad for her children and her new husband!
