As far as I know she is not an OT. She does reflex integration. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Find out if she is or isn't a licensed OT. Just because she does reflex integration doesn't give her the extensive training and background of a licensed therapist

I’m aware but I’m pretty sure she is not an OT.

Exactly. Why not go to an OT, who can do all this woman does plus more? And you can likely find an OT covered by insurance as well.

I belive Mrs. Mertzbach is somewhat different than a typical OT. I don't know what she she does but people swear up and down by her; alot more than your typical OT therapist. If I remember correctly she sells cd's too. She has representative coming down to aim byisroel giving a presentation once a week.

I'm not saying don't use her but do serious research. Ask questions such as how long do kids need treatment by her? Does she give parents follow up activities to speed up the process? Is she willing to communicate with others in your child's team to set up a holistic plan and give tips? Working as a team to integrate skills is very important

I’m an OT. By the way, OT stands for occupational therapist so it’s enough to just say OT. If you’re looking for someone to get to the root of your kids issues, then any OT has a lot more knowledge than the trainees Mrs Metzbach employs. And a well-trained, experienced OT likely has more knowledge than Mrs Metzbach herself. I’m not sure why you would sell yourself short and get OT through people who aren’t OTs.

Because she has something most OTs don't.
I've seen kids (not mine) make GREAT strides with her program.

For example, my neighbors son has ABI (acquired brain injury) from a seizure disorder from before it was properly controlled.
He was mainstreamed with a lot of support but still struggling in every way including physically (balance/gait disorder)
This is a elementary/middle school aged kid.
At the eval she asked him to draw a house.
He drew a square with a triangle on top. Added one rectangle for the door and a mini square above for the window. She asked if he had something to add. "No".
It was also don't very unsimetrical.
After a year, he was reevaluated, he was asked to draw a house.
Her drew an entire apt building with the windows, the panoramic window, the flowes hanging and all the pichevkas.
It was crazy to see how his inner world exploded. His behaviour and overall contentment improved.
His balance is perfect. So much improvement it's unbelievable.

That was after years of OT, PT, going to London to dr. Alexander, traditional medicine and other stuff.

What matters most is doing the exercises between sessions.
He went 2x a week to one of her trainees. (Not all are good btw. If you don't have a decent one you won't see progress)
For a year.
His emotional intelligence and self awareness improved 10 fold too.

I'm not sure exactly what she does thats so magical. But I have heard relatives and friends/neighbors rave about her. And her methods that are so easy to do and are so helpful for so many things!
The example I've watched it evolve over the year.

I was thinking of taking one of my kids to her. She's super sentive and sensory. We've tried a few regular ot. Not enough of an improvement imo in 4 years of ot.

She may have a great program, have gotten some education and trained people in. I don't know her. BUT if she has not gone to school for occupational therapy and IS NOT a licensed therapist then she CAN NOT be providing OT! Call her exercise program whatever you want, it is not OT in its definition!

This exactly. What degree does this person have? If she helps you by all means go, but you are not getting occupational therapy from someone who isn't an occupational therapist.

Sounds like you weren’t going to great OTs. Nothing you are saying sounds newsworthy to me.

I too rave about her. I don't know the name of the therapy she does but I know two kids who went to OT, weren't helped much and then went to her and after a few months to a year, saw major differences! She literally healed this kids all the way BH.

This sounds really nice but it's all subjective. You have no way of knowing if she was the one who helped or the occupational therapy they previously had laid the foundation and therefore she was successful. Additionally, it could be a coincidence and the child simply matured over the time they had therapy and it had nothing to do with her and evrrything to do with maturity. Unless she is doing objective studies, such as randomized control studies you have no clue that she "literally healed this kid all the way". Occupational therapy has tons of studies being done to make sure the treatments are evidenced based.
