I need help deciding on a humidifier for my kids bedroom. DD (5 years old) has been coughing a lot at night and a doctor suggested I use a humidifier. I am a little lost looking at all the options out there, I’ve never used one before.

Can anyone advise on which company they had a good experience with? Warm mist versus cool mist? I have a gift card on Amazon so I’m looking there first but would buy elsewhere as well.

I use levoit and am very happy with it. It has both warm and cool options and many others. It’s very quiet and doesn’t make the floor wet. It has different settings and can be connected to your phone though I never tried that.
It needs to be cleaned regularly if you’re using sink water which can be a pain but that’s with any humidifier.

I have something similar to this one -

https://www.amazon.com/Pure-En.....ss_tl

What I love about it, other than the fact that while it’s turned on No one coughs at night, is the easy opening to clean. I had one with a small opening in the past and it got moldy quickly.

I use distilled water. Less chance of molding, from what I've read.

Is distilled water expensive? I know that’s a better choice for humidifier but I’m a little worried about how much it would cost me.

We use the ones that say how low the humidity is. Like it has a sensor. It’s called bionaire. It’s very big and noisy

Cold air seems to be more common, but it does make the room colder.

But they really all do the same thing. A humidifier is a humidifier

I use a vaporizer because I know I won't be able to keep up with the cleaning of a humidifier.

I use the typical Vicks. Happy with it (though I didn't do much research).

I replace it every 2 years or so.
