Steak Dinner

I'm sure some imas have good ideas for me. My husband's birthday is coming up and we have a tradition of making steak dinner every year on his birthday because eating out is way unaffordable. I want to upgrade a little this year and make some sides that really mimic a steakhouse dinner but I've never had one. So, what are some relatively simple to make side dishes to make a steak dinner special?

Salad or any grilled vegetable he likes
Mashed potatoes

Typical sides to a steak at an upscale restaurant are by choice, I’ll list below

Standard would be mashed potatoes and some greens (either green beans or salad)

Choice options usually:
Mashed potatoes
Roasted potatoes
Fries (usually truffle or sweet potato options at fancier restaurants)
Rice
Green beans
Roasted mixed veggies
Roasted mushrooms
Simple salad (arugula lettuce, tomatoes, dressing usually oil based)

I would do carmelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, fresh cut fries, chimichuri.

Don’t forget dessert

BTW- the best way to sear a steak and get a crunchy outside is to smear Mayo

The first marble spoon cookbook has a great steak night dinner page with steak and sides served on a platter. I’ve made it a few times and it’s always a huge hit

I do a reverse sear. Heavy salt and pepper your steak. First cook the steak in a 250 degree oven until the internal temperature reaches approximately 15 degrees lower than desired doneness. You will need a meat thermometer for this. Then take it out and let rest for 5 to 10 min. Preheat pan and sear on each side for 1 to 2 minutes till desired sear level. This only works with steaks and inch and a half or thicker. Thinner steaks will overcook using this method. Then I would do a straight up sear flipping every min until desired doneness. Please don't use mayo on the outside of your steak cause it will burn.

I have a steak recipe that I'm planning on using so that's good.
Love the chimichurri idea, thank you for all those side suggestions, I'm going to choose from them.

And I never did dessert! Not sure why, it would totally elevate the meal so thank you, will definitely try to do that this year
