I followed the recipe, I boiled 1 cup karo syrup and 1 cup sugar. I melted in a cup of peanut butter. I added 6 cups of rice crispies. within the hour it was as hard as a brick. What did I do wrong???

I dont know if this will help but I always add a little water at a time to the pb,sugar, syrup mixture so its not so thick- it makes it a little more liquidy. my peanut chews dont ussually come out hard.
oh also cut the peanut chews inthe pan when they are still warm-it makes it easier.

I follow the 1 cup, 1 cup, 1cup, but when it comes to the crisp rice, I use a bit less and they come out nice and chewy, not hard. When I would use the full amount of crisp rice, that's when I did end up with bricks at times.
