Hope things work out OK.

Just try and keep calm. And if you feel like you are loing it - ask for a break (for the bathroom if need be)

Will you hae anyone with you ?? (friend sister or parent ?)

At this point, I haven't thought about it. When I get a date, I might see if someone can come with me. But on the other hand, they probably can't come in with me as it is. I'll have to find out.

Thanks so much for your support, everyone. I really wonder sometimes why there is a law. This guy gets away with it over and over again. But my gut feeling tells me he's going to come unstuck at some point. As my lawyer also said, the wheels of justice turn very, very slowly ...

Even if they can't actually come in with you:

1. They'll be right outside.
2. There is someone else in there (the mediator), so he is not likely to try anything.

If the appointed mediator is male, can you ask for a female "escort" or to leave the door open, and "blame" it on yichud?

I’m so sorry you have to go through this. It really brought tears to my eyes reading your posts. I pray that you should be matzliach in your battle and you can put this all behind you very soon.

Shosh, at least have someone sitting outside the mediation room with a flask of English tea & chocolate biscuits! But can you bring in an advocate...not a lawyer, but a semi-professional? Please check. You may be able to bring witnesses! Ask what the procedure entails: who speaks first, rebuttals, the role of the mediator, any jurisdiction/authority he has etc.

Also, prepare multiple copies of ALL evidence...police & ER reports, bills, threatening letters etc that show him to be the lowlife he is. The more paper the better, cataloged, cross-referenced, & labeled.

Whatever you do, DO NOT sign anything before your lawyer takes a look. Even if it's a "good for 5 minutes" deal. You'll lose. Those deals always have hidden clauses.

Oy, I wish I could hold your hand. Let us know the date & we'll up the Tehillim.

Thanks so much, everyone ...

I'll let you know when the big day comes up ... It's supposed to be soon. My lawyer said she'd brief me and give me all the papers. She's already told me that I should mention the fact that he's leaving me to handle the costs of the bar mitzvah myself (to the point that even though he's actually bothering to teach ds hlichos tefillin, I still had to buy the book for him!).

I dunno, as I said to my mum, how much is one small brain supposed to contain sometimes? What with the bar mitzvah, sorting out all this business, making a living, and making Purim and Pesach, I sometimes wonder how I manage to stuff it all in ... (So if anyone asks me if I know who the prime minister is or what the weather's going to be tomorrow, forget it!!!)
