any ideas for movies that are like brighten beach memoirs? old and nestalgic? I love that type and I would love to see some more, but I cant think of any other than a tree grows in brooklyn.

nope. I went to the imdb page for BBM and scrolled down figuring they'd have a 'Viewers who saw this also recommend...' part.

How 'bout Crossing Delancey? Not exactly, b/c it takes place in modern times, but the whole Lower East Side locale, etc...

eta: Another sweet movie by Joan Micklin Silver (who did "Crossing Delancey") is "Hester Street," a story about Jewish immigrants to the Lower East Side.

thanks elf and clarissa, those are the types I am talking about.
anyone else? im going to america in a few weeks and want to get as many cheesy nastalgic type movies that I would not be able to find here in israel. thanks.
