bad, I guess, but really--I seeded a pomegranate earlier this week to use for yom tov salad. they have a slightly sour aftertaste. Not bad, but not sweet either. I think they tasted like that when I opened it, though, and they don't smell funny...I just don't want to hurt any guests

I would assume rotten ...
and they would have a brownish colour instead of bright magenta ...

unripe (which there are a lot of this year) the seeds are white or light pink, ripe - seeds are deep red, rotten - seeds are brown.

fermented and moldy and soft and mushy and like there are different textures
good seeds taste tangy and crisp and tart and like there is only one type of thing in your mouth

Okay. I was thinking it might be possible for there to be an in-between sort of bad. I think I'd probably recognize mushy brown ones as being bad I guess there are some that have a bitter tang.

they become murky, rather than shiny red see through... so they are like slime inside.
