DS has been suffering from asthma, eczma and many food allergies most of his life. He is 7 years old now and seems to constantly be on medicane- whether its his albuterol inhaler, nebulizer( with steroids), oral steroids- prednisone during flare ups, hydracortisone for his eczma etc. I just hate putting all this medicane into his body and just temporaraily fixing the problem. I keep on reading about alternative treatments specifically for severe asthma and eczma and want to do something about it. Please share your thoughts/ideas, and also anyone know about Mrs. Silverstein in NY that can help with some of these problems ( I read about it in a previous post) and want to find out more. Thanks!

Hi
My husband went to a Knesiologist (sp?). She took him off and dairy and white flour.
BH he is doing so much better since then. Dairy and white flour is know. So try to get him off these as a first step.
I recomend going to a Knesiologist to check out if there is any other food she/he would take him off.
My sister took her daughter to Biofeedback and managed to get her eczema under control.

I also wanted to add that you should maybe put him on a special diet. ds has allergies and is also constantly on most of the medications and treatments you mentioned. I took him of some food and he is b"h much better. the only time he is on medication now is when the weather changes drasticly (season allergies)

he didn't eat white flour for a whole year and this allergy went away b"h, now he is still alergic to some foods, like milk, soy, nuts, sesame and I hope they will go away too

My brother had azthma and eczema and was allergic to many things. Now B"H he is able to eat a ton more things and he has no eczema and his athsma is rare- what help for him was knisiology and taking this medicine called singulare. he still is severley allergic to things but it is very few things and he is able to eat almost anything. any more question feel free to ask. I could also refer you to my father who did a ton of research on this topic and has helped other people in this situation.

My dc, around the same age as yours, also has asthma & we took them to an alternative dr. who said no dairy & gluten and b"h, bah... we are rarely on steroids except when cheating. We have been doing it this way for the past 3 years and are much happier with limiting foods than pumping steroids. We hate the steroids, we find the steroids cause off the wall behavior.

OP here. Thank you for all your responses. My son is actually allergic to milk, eggs, all nuts, peanuts, bananas, mango and fish. So he is already off the dairy. The white flour is obviously something we can look into some more. What alternatives did you use instead of the white flour?
Also anyone know more about biofeedback and knesiology?

There are 2 techniques I know of to remove allergies NAET (www.naet.com) and NMT (www.neuromodulationtechnique.com). I know people that got rid of allergies with both of these techniques. NAET treats one allergen at a time and NMT treats all allergies together. I'm told that NMT works faster but it's harder so it's more important to have a good practitioner. I'm also wondering if NMT is better if it's difficult to determine all allergens. NMT is based on a lot of different principles, one of them being kinesiology.

The Feingold program has completely gotten rid of people's asthma and eczema, but it requires following the diet. With NAET and NMT you are no longer allergic.

BTW, who is Mrs. Silverstein and what does she do?

If someone does not tolerate flour well, it's possible that they will tolerate flour that has been soaked so it is partially digested. If anyone wants instructions on how to do this, they can pm me.

You should read Is This Your Child by Dr. Doris Rapp. Also there is one very accurate allergy test. It is not available in NY though, but I went to NJ to have it done for one of my kids. You can check out at betterhealthusa.com.

I don't know about asthma (though I understand from my doctor that eczema, asthma and hay fever are all often connected).... but my son has awful eczema and I was told that flax seed oil is very important. I massage with it and put a little into his food too. The eczema isn't gone, but it is much better.

downsyndrome, is one of symptoms of that diagnosis a hoarse voice. One of my children was diagnosed with a different GI issue due to allergies, and since his voice is often hoarse, I'm wondering if he may have a little bit of that also.

A hoarse voice is very often a sign of GERD - gastro-esophageal reflux disease; can all tie in.

I took my dd to Dr. Rafael Harbater in Brooklyn. He has helped her and others that I sent to him. THe deal with him is that you have to be consistent and it is costly. It takes time but he has gotten rid of most of her allergies and problems that specialists in the city couldnt help me with! I found out about a Dr. Strauss in Ft Lauderdale. He has done miracles. Unfortunately, I planned on going in August and he is out on leave and no telling when hell be back. He is in his eighties and has cured many people I know. WHY do we find out about things when it is just too late! I daven he'll be back soon!

omigosh, I have these issues with my one year old. severe eczema, only on cheeks, plus chronic congestion and enlarged adenoids, and reflux. I am in the midst of researching alternative medicine doctors, even tho im not the alternative "type": but mainstream meds has encouraged me to use hydrocortisone on my son for like five months straight twice a day, and I am so over all that covering-up and not curing. anyone know if all the stuff I mentioned could be related to one specific isue? its reflux, adenoids and congestion, and eczema. and hes way overweight to.
