I live across the us from where my brothers lchaim will be. should I try to put an effort to fly in to be with my family for the simcha?

For a lchaim? I wouldn't. You'll go in with the whole family for the wedding.
(If you can afford it, and have the time to fly in for the lchaim, go ahead!)

it's still a cost, but becuase it's in the girls also out of town hometown , my parents will be there by themselves. I don't think my other siblings will come. by I'm halfway closer to the girls town, so I am thinking it'll be nice to go for my parents to have someone.
it'll not a fortune but it'll mean in and out over 2 days, leaving my kids by friends.
