DD worked for a camp the past few summers and they asked her to give maaser to them out of her paycheck...does that seem kind of forward to you?

unless the camp is for the poor or sick is it considered a tzedaka?
I think your dd should give her maaser where she wants to.

I would think it still is tzedaka...I have given ma'aser money to organizations that have nothing to do with poor or sick people.
I do think it's rude for them to do that, though.

Just because they asked, doesn't mean she has to give to them, does it?? She can tell them she already has another place that she usually gives to. I think someone once told me that there are halachos about switching where u give your maaser to. anybody know anythign???

Right. Its not "forced" maaser at all. Its a request and she is entitled to say no.

But this is a teenager... it's hard to be assertive with your boss.

Especially when the teenager is made to feel that the camp is so broke that her campers will not get what they need if she doesn't spend the money for it herself. I have seen this a few times.
