Please don't take offense, anyone. I am only asking out of curiosity...
How are tichel wearers in the US defined in terms of sect of Judaism? yeshivish, modern, etc.
By tichels, I mean like the really pretty ones that I see a lot of sephardim wearing in Israel. The ones that wrap around a bunch of times, sometimes with fringes, etc.

I don't know if this answer will help at all, but the women in my general area who wear tichels are immediately identified as Sephardic. In my old neighborhood there was a Breslov women's learning center and all the women who went there wore the scarves like you described. I'm an American convert who looks Ashkenaz but am Sephardic so everyone's always asking why I only wear tichels lol.

Sephardic, maybe, though most of the Sephardim in my area either wear wigs or hats. I wouldn't identify someone wearing those nice wrap around tichels as belonging to any sect - just someone trying to beautify the mitzvah. I would, however, assume they're NOT chassidish or yeshivish. Just frum.

In my area, a lot of the MO women wear tichels...well they wear whatever they feel most comfortable with, but tichels seem to be slightly more popular

Agree with mimimommy. They would be perceived (not necessarily correctly) as definitely not chasidish or yeshivish, but not necessarily belonging to a specific other group. They are worn mostly by sephardim from what I've seen.
