My DD says that her bedtime is earlier than everyone else her age. I'm not sure that is the case (or if it even makes a difference), but I'm curious what you people have to say. (She knows I am putting this here but also knows I am not bound by the results)

I voted between 8-9 because that's lights out. But my 7 year old is in bed at 7:45 and reads till 8:15-8:30

I voted 7-8. Because by 8:00 its quiet time.

What time does your DD need to make up? My DS needs to wake up by 6:45 to make a 7:35 bus. There are boys on my block whose bus comes at 8:30, and they go to sleep later.

I voted between 7 and 8. I'm thinking about 8 though. Lights out being some where between 7:45 and 8:15. But, it can be earlier or later depending on how early she needs to get up and how much sleep she needs. It really differs between kids. I'm sure you'll find some kids going at 7 and some closer to 10! IMO 10 is way too late, but in homes with lots of older siblings where the 7 y o is the youngest thst can happen.

If you just need quiet time for yourself and that's why you put her to bed really early, just designate that as quiet reading time. It's not crazy to want time to yourself and feel "done" at the end of the day.

I put my 8 year old into bed at the same time as my almost-3 year old, at 7:30, but the older one can read until 8:15.

I think he likes it that there's designated reading time every evening. He prefers to go to bed earlier and read, than go to bed at 8:15 and not read.

7:07pm is bedtime, but she reads for at least another hour in bed.
