Schedule a repayment plan. Don't let the money you lent to your friend go. DH is excellent at this. He will have someone pay back a small amount each week. Too many times the lender lets the money go, so borrowers don't pay back.

That's a great idea if you can pull it off. DH and I would rather just let things go, but your approach sounds more correct.

My dad returned the money.
My friend, I will request.
What bothers me most is that they are not up front with me.
Why not say, I know I told you I’d have the money by the end of the week, it’s more likely going to take three...
I thing going awol is wrong.

Its a hard call to make. When people borrow money - there are usually other stresses at play.
