It may not be Halacha to wear a yarmulka at home. But the message you’re sending is that we only do things for show, when others see, and only follow the rules when it’s convenient (like staying clean). You might not think that, but it can come across this way. If he removes it sometimes, that’s one thing. But you actively removing it sends a message. And this message may spill over into other areas of life further down the road.
