I have Naama instead of Naomi on my short list, and Libby for a "love/heart" theme.

Be aware that Naomi often gets so slurred in Hebrew that it sounds like 2 syllable No-mi (not that anything is wrong or bad about that, just know that it happens) |
Well, I would not like that…hmm.. my husband thinks that dalia and zahava are old names, and Ahuva is not. He is sephardic, is that why???

I do like naama, but soo hard for Americans to say. Even for me. It will be nama like lama. I can just see that it will be hard for people to say it properly.

First of all, Na’ama like pajama, not lama.
Second of all, it is popular in Israel, very common and not a unique name.

Don't use Ahuva if you're British. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner (a hoover).
In Israel Ahuva is old lady. Ahava is more trendy. Personally don't like either though.
I voted Naomi.
What about Ayala, Avia, Emuna, Maayan - similar to Maya but has a meaning.

Chaviva means same thing as Ahuva (although it does have that ch sound).

Both lovely and classic names.
Also Avital, Yael, Noa, Tamar, Hadas, Adi, Re'ut, Hadar, Talya, Meital, Ayelet/Ayala - none of which are ultra-trendy but are less dated (some are tanachic) than names like Ahuva or Chaviva etc.

amother [ OP ] wrote: | These are not my top names. I am not connecting with any name. I like ariella and Rivka, but husband does not. Husband likes Ahuva, nesya, emuna, and maya. I love the meaning of the name ahuva, but not the sound. I have the name shira which I like, but DH is Israeli and it bothers him with any reish name I say. We are trying to stay away from ch sounds too, which makes pool of names very small. I don’t care at this point about ch. |
If he likes Maya and you don't - how about Maayan?

I love the sound of Noami (as I would pronounce in Hebrew).
I've always wanted to call a daughter Naama, and nickname her Naami - the sound combination has a beautiful and soothing sound.
And the meaning is is so lovely.
And you also have the plus that it is a Biblical name.

If she's living in states that sounds like Mayan (the tribe).
Maayan is a beautiful name, I've have met both a girl and a boy by that name.
Maya - that has a nice sound, and can go both Hebrew and English. Doesn't Maya mean water in Aramaic?

I do like Ahuva.
Curious, if you're not into either name , why are you asking specifically about these 2? (Family names?) |
Looking for an easy nice name that has a nice meaning and easy to pronounce. No reish.

Some of the suggestions I liked were Aviva and Ayala.
Some other (fairly common) ideas:
Shoshana
Leah
Yehudis
Hadassah
Batsheva
Elisheva
Dina
Yael
Malka
Tova
Esther (has a reish, but not sure if it makes a big difference at the end of the name)
