Yes it can be on the tongue . My child gets them on the tip and sides of the tongue

There isn't. This is not my first kid that has it. It is the first one though that has it once and then a few weeks later again. That's why I asked what I can give to knock it out of the system.

Apparently it's something contagious because a few of my kids are complaining now that they have 2 or 3 on their tongue.

Oral herpes is very contagious. You may be right , that this is what it is. Often the lips burn too

If it's very bad, there's a medicine called Zovirax that ppl can take at the beginning of symptoms. I'm not sure if Dr gives it to young children.
(If it's thrush you can treat with acidophilus capsules opened and poured on the tongue.)
My son had herpes sores on his face very often as a baby. He didn't have any in the last few years. It's possible he has sores in his throat instead (more common in older kids/adults)
