Most Chassidim eat before davening so no one is fasting here. They can also make kiddush before mussaf so it’s true that they are not washing and eating the seuda until very late but they definitely aren’t fasting all day.

Also, while others begin very early on rosh hashana (7:15-7:30) chassidim begin later which obviously means will finish later too.

When you say, chassidim begin later, you make it sound like davening starts at 10. I won't profess to know all the timings of all chassidish shuls around the world, but FYI, DH's shul starts at 8 and ends at 4.

And to echo other responses, no eating before davening. A coffee, yes, but no food until after krias hatorah.

Why is Everyone talking about it ‘the men’ though. What about women? I understand moms of young children stay home but what about high school girls and older? What about women whose children are all older? Do they all stay in shul till 5pm as well?

Yes. As a girl I would be in Shul from 8 till 4:30. My mother didn’t have little kids at home so she didn’t need my help. I really enjoyed the davening and still sing the nusach when I daven at home with my kids.

They sure do. I went every year from 8 to 4:30. I was far from the only one, the shul was packed.
You don't get that this the norm for us, we don't think into it like you are. It's a long and beautiful davening, no ones forced to be there. Those who are love it.

Our shul had a break around 12:30 for a half hour. Someone would make kiddush and we would have some cake. I used the rest of the time to say Tehillim. I miss those days!

Me too! I was just thinking about how last night was the first time I missed selichos since I was 12. Bh for my baby but that means only shofar In shul this year for me, it takes some getting used to.

Klausenberg?

Klausenberg can go a lot later than 6… the clock just works differently there. it doesn’t bother me that my husband is in shul late, I know he is davening for our family. I take my kids on walks, we go to the park, visit people….if my husband needs a breather he comes home and then goes back to shul. I can get worried sometimes when it gets late but not agitated the way some people here are portraying it.

Us too.
One year my Totty came home from shul so late and my mommy served so many desserts we ended by the seuda mafsekes on erev yom kippur.

There are those who don't eat at the break and come home 430 to eat for the first time. I'm sure it's hard for them. Us women make Kiddush and eat throughout the day and feed the kids.

Dh doesn't like to eat, he says that sweet cakes disturb his davening and prefers a coffee and that's it. However this can be his daily routine on a workday as well.
Another fact is that the men actually start earlier then every week Shabbos because of the long teffilos.
As a girl I loved going to daven especially listening to the yom tov nussach and the bal tefillos voice.

Around 3.
I'll bite. It IS hard for me. In fact the long shul days are hard on me when I've got the kids. However, I know that my husband did davening for us and he is davening bkavana for hours straight. I accept the zechus.

Start at 730 finish at 130/145. Any later and we consider it “shlepping”.

And even that is long for me. I’m home with the kids I find it very difficult. I also don’t have family nearby so my friends and neighbors are going to their parents or siblings and I can’t. It’s difficult day. I won’t lie this month is very very hard for me.

Yeshivish. Dh davens in his yeshiva and they end around 3:30, at which time we have the seudah together.
(I do feed the kids earlier in addition).
