My 10 yo is hitting me or throwing things at me! It doesn’t hurt. How do I make him stop?

Why is he throwing it? Tired hungry…? Say I wont let you hit me and hold his hands if still not listening.

This is not typical behavior for a ten year old
You need to take this up with a professional
Does he have anger management issues?
Does he need medication to regulate his emotions?
If he is a typical child, then you respond sternly. We do NOT physically hurt a parent in any way.
Please don’t be light about this. Consequences should be swift and appropriate.

I recommend reading the book The Explosive Child. It helped me a lot.
And perhaps seek professional help such as PT or OT, or professional guidance on how to deal with him.
Wishing you the best! I know it isn't easy. btdt

You are not alone. My son of same age is doing the same.
I believe he simultaneously needs two things:
1. love, reassurance, positive attention, time to express his needs and wants.
2. more boundaries, clear expectations, minimal tolerance for minor infractions (such as rude speaking, not listening etc.)
I try to use a warning system: two warnings for minor things before need to go to room. If doesn't go to room or uses violence then calmly inform him that he has lost X (e.g. computer time for 3 days...)
If he is hurting a sibling, stop it right away, put him in another room and don't allow him to leave until he is ready to change.
If he is throwing something at you, stay calm. Don't let get into battle of wills.
You are welcome to post her more info on what you see working and what not - I'd be happy to learn from you as well.
