I don't know if this was mentioned yet, but..
Gamal (camel) has the same root as gemilus chassadim (loving kindness) and lehigamel- to wean. Also, the letter gimmel also shares this root.

What's the connection?
I heard this years ago from Rabbi Tatz, so I'm probably forgetting details.
If you write out the word Gamal, it actually resembles a camel. (I used to draw this on the board to demonstrate, but I can't do that here. )
Weaning has the same shoresh, which seems like a paradox, because the mother is essentially STOPPING to feed the baby. But at the moment when she stops, she is giving the child independence , which is the highest form of giving- allowing someone to stand on his own two feet, so to speak. (According to the Rambam, this is the highest form of tzedaka, enabling someone to become self-sufficient).

I don't remember exactly how the camel fits in, but possibly something to do with Rivka, who epitomized chessed. She both fed the camels and rode on one. A camel stores water for many days, thus being able to continue serving its master without needing to replenish.
