Minecraft parental control help

I feel like I'm drowning.
I want to give my boys (age 13 and 15) access to minecraft on the Amazon fire tablet.
They've never played it before.
I'm trying to figure out how to set parental controls to block chatting or in app purchasing and I have no fre*kin clue what I'm doing.
I googled around but I'm hitting a dead end.
I'm trying to do one kid at a time.
So first I set up a minecraft account for myself so there's a parent account. But to do that I needed to set up a Microsoft account. Ok I did that too.
Google said in order for me to have parental control on the kids minecraft account I need to set up a Microsoft family. In order to that I need an email address and Microsoft account for my child.
Ok so I set up both of those for my child.
Now I sign in to Minecraft with my child's Microsoft account. Amazon tablet says I need to allow web access. So I turn it on temporarily to sign my child in.
I sign in to Microsoft family. I don't see anywhere my child's minecraft account. There's only options to add xbox devices or Microsoft devices, none of which he has.
I'm just super confused by now.
Where on earth and how do I make the minecraft game safe for my child on the fire tablet?
I feel like I spent the last 2 hours setting up dozens of new accounts and haven't gotten an inch smarter.
Help!
