it may also be a question of need.
If someone is able to clean their house without cutting back on sleep, then it doesn't matter what the neighbors do. But if a woman works full time and can't clean her house without staying up until the wee hours of the morning because she doesn't earn quite enough to pay for some help...then maybe she has a right to feel "poor" even if her family income is higher than that of the first woman.
On the subject of cleaning help, I figure it may be cheaper to hire someone to hold a baby for a few hours so I can clean the house myself...I was shocked to discover the going rate in E.Y for cleaning help is 50 shekels an hour!
