For years and years, I have absolutely perfect attendance at a Shabbos shiur. The lady in charge has all married kids now and is not usually there - she calls one of the women to say the Tehillim and give a little introduciton.

She has never ever asked me.

As I said, I have perfect attendance...I'm also a BT (from after high school); do you think that she thinks I don't know anything?

I would just ask her to do it. It sounds like an oversight to me, don't be so quick to judge.

She probably doesn't want to put people in a position of being uncomfortable. The woman in charge of our parsha shiur has to practicially pull teeth to keep her volunteers.

Maybe she's unusually perceptive, senses that you don't want to do it, and doesn't want to put you on the spot by asking.

I understand what Chocolat is saying. It's like if all your friends know you hate basketball and decide not to invite you to a basketball party they are having. You would still like to have been asked, even if you only play the role of cheerleader because you are part of the group of friends. Maybe Chocolate would decline the invitation to speak, but it would be nice if she were asked even once.
