Bina. I don't read Mishpacha. I hate to say it but I'm not nearly as interested in the Hamodia mag since I started getting Bina.

Every shabbos I read the mishpacha. I also get the Hamodia which I start on shabbos and then read during the week (if I have time). It's a different type of paper, not really comparable. One is a magazine, one is a newspaper.

I read Binah once and liked it. I wish I knew someone who got Binah every week so we can read and swap. I don't want to switch to Binah because I'm in middle of too many serial stories in the mishpacha.

the fiction stories are just rubbing me the wrong way. I get the feeling that anyone not Charedi is hated.

It's probably because the fiction stories (and lots of other articles) are translated from the Hebrew edition, so it's hard to relate to them if you're not Israeli. Especially Hidden Promises and the Amitz stories, if you're not chareidi Israeli, hard to relate to at all. But I still enjoy reading it.

The mishpacha likes to consider themselves open minded.

I'm "Israeli" now, but wasn't raised in this culture, I know that makes a difference, and definitely am not Charedi. It might just be that there are cultural clues I'm missing....

We buy the Mishpacha in Hebrew, not every week....

My DH says that they're articals are starting to get very repetative, and that their magazine used to be much better....

My kids love the "Yeladim" section of the Mishpacha!!!

I've used the recipes in "Betoch HaMishpacha" a couple of times.

Of course the Mishpacha is geared towards Chareidim. Non-chareidim have no problem going out and buying secular magazines - mishpacha is for people who don't want secular magazines.

You do get a good insight into the Israeli chareidi mentality

I DO NOT LIKE MISHPACHA MAGAZINE!!!!
the stories make me wanna hurl. cmon...in a recent one, a story about a man that lost his wife: "in the 2 years it took her to die..." took her to die? what is this, is she an animal or a human neshama?... so imho BAD WRITING, not very intelligently or tactfully witten articles.

and the article topics in general get me nervous. like I dont know...just everything seems so narrow minded and shallow and unintelligent and I dont know....

I dont like that magazine!! I think its junk, does not teach the best midos imho....unless u want your child to be super yeshivish and dislike anyone different

Till Binah came around, Mishpacha was a favorite. Lately, I find the articles are not as interesting but I'm desperate for rdg material.

I love Binah
I love Hamodia (I get it daily)
And I'm so-so but get Mishpacha
