I just found out a family member opened more than one credit card under my name and used it without paying it off he used abt 10,000 (3 diff cards)!I live in a diff country and just moved locally and found out.

What is my next step?I'm so lost and shocked and hurt

How is it possible that someone opened multiple cards on your name? Do they have your ID & social security card? They know your signature? Otherwise, how's it possible?? Wouldn't the bills be mailed to you??
Call the card companies to close the cards. Tell them someone opened them on your name and they'll open an investigation. You may decide to press charges.

my brother did this to me and denies it 10 years after
the credit card company would not press charges since it was a family member
contact all three credit report agencys and put a freeze on info

my brother knew my social security card and opened a po box in my name
my name is unisex signitures dont matter no one checks

Step 1.call cc company and freeze all accounts
Step 2. Confront them and ask they how they plan on paying it back and fixing the problem
Step 3. Contact a machon lhoraah and find out the halachos for protecting yourself and what you are permitted to do. I.e. pressing charges etc if they have no plans to fix this asap.

Very simple, all you need is your personal info- name, date of birth, address, social, income (which can be made up and is not verified). No ID required. No bank info required.

At the very least, you need to let the rest of the family know. Because if this person did it to you, chances are he'll do it to others. So you can at least alert them so they can freeze their accounts.
