I like the meaning of Yehudis, especially now. My husband doesn’t like the sound of it. So I’m trying to come up with alternatives.
Yehudim are called “shoshanim” in Maoz Tzur so Shoshana is a contender.
I think we are called Hashem’s beloved somewhere so Ahuva.
Emuna maybe? Aren’t we called maaminim or some such?
Along those lines. Thanks for ideas.

Yes! Am Yisrael Chai and I wish Amichai was a girls name and I am looking to “reinvent” it by pairing something like Yehudis (but as mentioned my husband doesn’t like it) with Chaya.

Many names have some nice interpretation. Am Yisrael Chai became the popular thing to say here, but I don't see how Chaya has anything to do with it. At the end of the day, you and your husband should resonate with the name.

Yes, which is why I’m looking for ideas. Do you have any?

I missed this one. I love it but hadn’t thought of using it in this context. Thank you, I’ll run it by him.

My daughter’s name is Chaya yehudis, and I have a bunch of nieces with that name.
If you’re looking for the same type, what about hodaya or odelya?

You don’t see the connection between chai and Chaya?

We called our daughter Yehudit with an Israeli pronunciation. I dislike how yehudis is pronounced.

I like Chaya Yehudis. It’s still on the table if I can convince DH. Only thing is, do you call your daughter or your nieces by both names (which we would want to do)? Do you find it gets slurred together? I feel like it would turn into “Chayudis” instead of two beautiful names.

My daughter is Chaya. Some nieces are both names, and some are just Hudis. The ones who go by both, it sounds more like Chayahudis.
