I went to the doctor today. My former classmate works there as a receptionist and an acquaintance is a nurse there. As the nurse was drawing my blood, my classmate came in to chit chat. I didn't mind, it was good to catch up.All of a sudden , she asked me if I was expecting. I said that I am not , and she said :"Sorry, you just have a big belly." The nurse then said :"I thought you were pregnant, too." What is wrong with people? Granted,I did gain a few pounds since I saw them last, but still. Don't people have a filter between their brain and their mouth

unfortunately not

sorry Sad

honestly don't pay attention to it - you know they were rude and that's all there is to it. you didn't do anything wrong. so you have no reason to be upset at all.

Sorry you had to get that from not 1 but 2 people! It's funny, I actually am pregnant right now and at the stage where my belly is protruding but not yet obviously pregnant. Most people stare and I can see them trying to decide- not polite, but better than saying something. Today, one of my colleagues took a look and said oh wow look at you, b'sha'a tova, and I was not happy about it- not because she's wrong (b/c she isn't), and not because it's not yet public (it kind of is)- but because she obviously was saying that based on what I looked like rather than having heard the news from someone in the know. Not a classy move due to the major foot-in-mouth potential.

OUCH!! I soo feel for you. Just spoke to a friend on the phone who I don't speak to that often. I happened to have seen her a few months ago. She said "Did you have your baby yet?" I wanted to die!!!

I was once out for lunch with my mom and someone came up to my mom (complete stranger) and said to her "congratulations, you're pregnant!" My mom was not pregnant and definitely not intending to be pregnant or intending to be ever again!

op just laugh it off, they are idiots, and be thankful you are not one of those people who has a flaw of speaking without thinking. That is a weakness that needs major work (as leads to speaking loshon hora ALL the time), so good for you that you don't suffer with this.

People need to learn to think before they speak. As someone going through IF I have listened to way to many comments similar to the one above.
