For those who have a child with ARFID, who have very limited food intake, what multivitamin do you give?

If I could get my kid to take a multivitamin, would he still have ARFID? What What What

Please post any really good ideas!

I’ve had some success with the vitamin c and d gummies that taste like candy (and probably are). I have a shelf of rejected multivitamins. They just taste off for someone so sensitive.

I don’t think the vitamins would change his actual food intake….although I sometimes wish there was a pill that would….
At one point I was using flintstones vitamins (my rav told me I could) but then he stopped liking them.

Zinc, trace minerals and high dose Thiamine can help with restrictive eating. Also digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid if low stomach acid/low pancreatic function is an issue. But there's usually an inflammatory component as well that needs to be addressed.

We've seen huge shifts in our child's pickiness/restrictiveness when addressing inflammation and nutrient deficiencies.

Holistic mother on Instagram has a great post on restrictive eating and how it becomes a vicious cycle.

Teach your children to swallow pills and bribe them to the skies. It's the only way out of the cycle.

BH he swallows already, I just don’t know what vitamins to get. All these things you mentioned….were they in conjunction with your doctor, or did you do them on your own?

Did you mention it to your practitioner? At this point I don’t think I would be comfortable introducing anything without her knowledge….

We didn’t have a formal diagnosis nor a practitioner.
I guess you can run it by your doctor, but if they’re mainstream I wouldn’t be surprised if they were t understanding or be supportive.

If you’re interested in academic articles, you can read up here. Maybe you can share these with your doctor.
