It's chodesh adar, cheer up

I'm not angry:)
I understood this thread to be about words that don't have a translation in English because the translation just doesn't cut it, not about finding convoluted ways to translate things that can easily be translated

Takka.

It could be in affirmative, yes, or apparently.

But when you say takka vegen dem, it's more like davka.

I have that with my therapist.....we converse in English......my first language is yiddish. She understands basic yiddish words.....my brain think in Yiddish.....even if I'm a fluent English speaker and use English to communicate with others.....sometimes a good yiddish word, expression, is hard to translate in English, it loses its taam. Although I might ultimately find a word or explain what I mean in longer length....but it's not the same.....certain words just can't be replaced and no other word will do it.

Although she is frum so Jewish lingo she knows, but I am chassidish, and she is not. Certain lingo, nuances, concepts, societal norms, I need to elaborate on.
She doesn't live in my community either.

She is a combo of litvish, chabbad, and haymish.

Also, "there's no swear words in yiddish" until I saw a chassidishe guy post an English swear word, written in yiddish on a whatsapp status once....had to laugh
The funniest part was that I was reading it over and over trying to figure out the translation, until it finally clicked Can't Believe It

The idea that there are no swear words in Yiddish is hilarious. It's filled with swear words lol. Alte koker literally means "old sh*tter"

Important is vichtig

It’s important you be home on time so I don’t have a nervous break down from the kids kvetching (because miraculously they’re all angels the second you turn the handle…)

The question you have is reverse- how to you say chashuv in English, which like someone said above can be esteemed. An esteemed rabbi, a chashuvia rabbi. (Or he can just be a vichtig macher LOL )

VIP stands for very important person
