I don't think it's my place to judge my friends' levels of observance. I know that some of my frummer friends don't think the way I cover my hair is halachically acceptable (I do, which is why I do it) but they would never think it inappropriate for me to do what I am comfortable with in their presence. On the other end of the spectrum, I don't wear pants, but I have a lot of friends who do, and it would be crazy for me to ask them to change.
I think this falls under the same category. Your religious choices are yours. If you're not saying "here, try my salad" and offering it to friends who you know won't eat it--which you obviously aren't--then I don't think you're doing anything wrong or inappropriate.
