Was wondering how parents know what to do going into shidduchim?
Especially parents who were baalei teshuvah that didn't grow up in this system and don't have a network to guide them.
How do you know who to go to ? What to look for? What to look out for? How to know if your child is ready? How to guide your child in knowing themselves/what they want? Etc.
Just seems like people always getting a mazel tov on an engagement in the family.
But how are us adult baalei teshuva parents supposed to successfully navigate this system?

There is a wonderful organization run by Oorah. Check it out .. rebbetzins.org . It is meant for children of BTs and BTs who need an extra hand in shidduchim and it’s a large network of volunteer shidduchim and mentors and they have very kosher run events as well.

Isn’t that to match young people that became baalei teshuva or children of relatively new baalei teshuvah ? Do they deal with baalei teshuvah that have been committed for a long time and are very integrated into yeshivash lifestyle?

OP, do you have mentors or role models who can walk you through the process, field questions, be a sounding board? That might be a place to start.

I know some dating coaches work with parents whose children are starting the parsha - that could be another resource.

Yes they can help even if it’s someone committed to yeshivish lifestyle for a while .. it’s based in Lakewood. Just a good place to start .

What about for American yeshivash baalei teshuvah in Israel? While not there yet it is serious consideration and this would be one thing I would consider in such a move as to is there a support network or how I would navigate system in Israel for this?
