I'm disappointed in you all! no one even MENTIONED titanic?

I was bawling at the end.

*a great miniseries: anne of green gables, continues into anne of avonlea and might even go further...not sure

*anne frank

*and the ULTIMATE tear-jerker: "after the promise", I cried throughout-with mark harmon, a great actor

Wait a minute, has no one here mentioned "Ice Castles?" I'm shocked. Also, "Somewhere in Time" with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve, and "Splendor in the Grass" with Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty. Bring a LARGE box of tissues.

elf... I think you and I are of the same generation. I haven't thought about Ice Castles in ages... "Don't cry out loud... just keep it inside... and learn how to hide your feelings..."

Same w/Somewhere in Time. That was my favorite movie as a teenager! Great choices. Not familiar with the third one, though.

for tear jerker, steel magnolias takes the prize. I dont think it has any "nonkosher" scenes.

if you want a war movie try saving private ryan

another really good movie is a beautiful mind. and cinderella man was good too (yes. I like russell crowe Smile. so was million dollar baby (and yes. I also like boxing movies )

if you like action, try lucky number slevin. that was fantastic

and of course the lord of the rings trio

Oh gosh... Holocaust movies never leave my head so I can't watch them without weeks of disturbed thoughts and dreams... but if they don't affect you so strongly, there's Sophie's Choice, Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful...

But, what about less intense themes... ET? The Stepmother. Forrest Gump. Steel Magnolias. Beaches. October Sky. Fried Green Tomatoes. Ghost.

Here's a link to an Amazon listmania for sad movies that might help you out: http://www.amazon.com/The-Best.....D23LV

Watch "Everything is Illuminated" directed by Liev Schreiber. Holocaust topic, beautifully directed. Warning: a true tear-jerker.
